Gameplay has surfaced... Finally.
Alan Wake meets Control... A pipe dream that only fans could dream of. However, with the announcement of the new Control DLC 'AWE' (Altered World Event) opening the doors to a large Remedy Video-game Universe, they are looking to combine the worlds of Control and Alan Wake.
The DLC title Altered World Event is the key to the formula. As the foundation of Control centers around reality breaking events, it's an easy lead in with different realities becoming accessible. In the game, Alan Wake has been missing for the last decade (If you didn't know, Alan Wake was released in 2010) and has spent his time imprisoned inside "The Dark Place".
“Alan Wake is writing again, and you’ll be finding pages of his writing,” Remedy creative director Sam Lake said during the stream. “The story he’s creating is affecting reality here. You can experience the full pages through the hotline menu in the game.”
The expansion is an estimated 4-5 hours of game play as well a healthy amount of additional side mission. The DLC also introduced a new enemy type, the Airborne Range, as well as new light-based mechanics that clearly pay their respects to Alan Wake.
AWE set for release on August 27, the same day as Control Ultimate Edition on Steam.
