That tells me Netflix has a lot of faith for the series. Which makes me wicked hyped for season 2!
I'm a huge fan of Joe Hill. He is one of my favorite authors of all time. (If not my all time number one). His novels are so moody and full of atmosphere and amazing character work. And the same can be said for his graphic novel series, Locke & Key.
The Netflix show doesn't exactly capture the essence of the graphic novels to a perfect T. But it's still a pretty damn good show on it's own right. I actually really enjoyed season 1. I see it more as a retelling than an adaptation.
Season one had a great ending. So I've been looking forward to season two for quite sometime. But, it was just announced that Netflix has already greenlit season 3! Which is a good sign that Netflix has a lot of faith for the series. Because usually, studios wait before confirming or denying a new season, so they can analyze the previous seasons viewership and public response.
Netflix had a lot of good things to say about the two showrunners, Meredith Averill and Carlton Cuse:
"Carlton and Meredith have built an incredible world in Locke and Key and we’re excited to have the Locke's return for more in the third season. I’m delighted to expand our creative partnership with Meredith Averill, a talented creator with a keen eye for best-in-class horror and supernatural storytelling.”
Said the Netflix VP of Overall Deals, Brian Wright.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have found a home at Netflix where I feel constantly supported, challenged and inspired. I look forward to continuing and expanding our relationship"
“We have some incredible adventures in store for the Locke family in season three, and could not be more excited to continue telling our story with our great partners at Netflix"
