BREAKING | James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad' Officially Rated-R for "Violence, Gore & Graphic Nudity"
Seems like Gunn is heading back to his roots!
Back in 2016, David Ayer's Suicide Squad was released to a less than positive reaction. Fast-forward to 2021 and we have a soft-reboot prepping for a glorious blockbuster entrance. One of the biggest criticisms of the original was the PG-13 release (Amongst other things). It seems that they have learned from their past mistakes and announced The Suicide Squad will be a hard "R".
The Suicide Squad has just been rated “R” by the MPA for…
“Strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use, and brief graphic nudity.”
For those that saw the red band trailer, obviously this isn't a surprise, but it's still exciting none the less. Plus, James Gunn's early career (Before Guardians of the Galaxy) was quite vulgar and bloody. (Slither, Super) This film seems to be a glorious return to a missed style.
The Suicide Squad comes to theaters and HBO Max on August 6.
The cast for this year’s movie includes Margot Robbie in her third film as Harley Quinn alongside Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, Idris Elba, John Cena, Storm Reid, Flula Borg, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz and Jennifer Holland.
King Shark, is voiced by Sylvester Stallone!
