I personally LOVE the Saw franchise. It's much more than the "torture p*rn" that a lot of people chalk it up to. It's a deeply disturbing psychological thriller, mixed with a dreary detective mystery.
Sure, some of the later sequels focus more on the bloody fun kills (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.) But overall, the plot of the Saw films are overlooked by many.
The Saw franchise originally ended in 2010, with Saw: The Final Chapter (or possibly better known as Saw: 3D). But, it was just recently revived with the 2017 film Jigsaw. Which wasn't bad. Wasn't bad at all.
But incase you didn't know, it's being rebooted yet again. With the Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson led film titled Spiral: From The Book Of Saw. Which as far as we know, isn't directly connected to 2017's Jigsaw.
Don't let the names of Chris Rock and Sam Jackson fool you though. Spiral doesn't look to be a comedy, or light in tone in anyway. In fact it looks dark as a hell, and full of the all twisted imagery you'd expect in a Saw film.
