Carolesdaughter Delivers Dark, Twisted, And Insanely Catchy Lyrics
Hopefully, this article sends you down the rabbit hole
Having a hand in the music video world, one of the founders of The Bloody Pulp, Cult Leader Z gets to meet and work with amazing artists of all types. Luckily for me, I get to check out all these artists and listen to some new music every now and then. I fell in love with this up-and-coming artist Carolesdaughter, with her new song 'Violent'.
Let's remember that music is subjective and just because I think this is good doesn't mean you will but I do hope you check out Carolesdaughter. I will add the video that Cult Leader Z directed below.
You can tell Cult Leader Z has a knack for horror with the imagery he displays in his visuals. It meshes so well with the message and the story Carolesdaughter tells in the song.
The music video is dark, bloody, and somewhat empowering. She talks about a terrible time through addiction where she was emotionally and physically abused by an ex-boyfriend. It's about love and betrayal. She talks about her subservience and her desire to get violent. She holds back a lot of pain.
You see stuffed animals, baby dolls, flowers, all things from innocent childhood smeared in blood. In the video, she's dressed in white like a ghost looking physically and mentally drained as she stares emptily at the camera while she delivers her chilling song lyrics.
" Don’t make me get violent
I want my ring back baby that’s a diamond
You don’t listen anyways, I’ll be quiet
I don’t really feel like fighting "
There's just something about her delivery of those lines where I can feel innocence in her voice while also hearing a bomb ready to go off.
" Petals off of flowers did you ever really love me now my nose is filled with powder and I think that she’s still lonely oh no. "
This lyric is so strong to me because you can only relate with her through all the times you've done things for other people, caught the bad benefit of it, then wondered if it was all worth it.
This song bleeds substance and is a perfect song for when your laying on the hood of your car looking up at the stars and watching the burned embers from your exes house that you just burned down rise up into the sky.
