Graboids, Ass Blasters, and Shriekers
"When a nature preserve in the Solomon Islands is infiltrated by Graboids, Ass Blasters, and Shriekers, two of the preserve's top scientists recruit Burt Gummer, monster hunter extraordinaire, to eradicate the infestation. While there, Burt picks up a potential new protege and encounters lost love."
I haven't seen all of the Tremor movies but I can imagine this film for any Tremors fan is a great addition to the series. For some, it may be their top three. I can tell the Michael Gross really wanted to make the fans happy. In all the films I watched, there weren't many of them that featured all three lifecycle Graboid stages. It may have been that long but I don't really remember there being Shriekers or Ass Blasters... like I said, haven't seen em' all.
What I do know is Bert Gummer is a mainstay in the franchise and (SPOILERS) him sacrificing himself to kill the last known Graboid felt like the end of an era, which is why I think fans of the series will like this one. They treated the end of the character really well as you could tell he was respected by the rest of the characters.
I haven't seen much of Jim Heder since my favorite role of his in Blades Of Glory, with Will Ferrel. I don't know much of what he's done since but seeing him onscreen again was a great surprise and I wouldn't mind him carrying on the series. Unfortunately, I have a feeling this will be the final Tremors.
Now if we can get the torch passed off to Heder and his Machete / Flamethrower combo that'll be the real blades of glory.
I liked the tone of this one, it seemed on a way larger scale level than the previous ones all though the comedic tone was combatting that feeling all throughout. I don't think it will disappoint you in this way. It was highly necessary this one wasn't cut and dry being of the nature it is, which again, is the ending of Bert Gummer's hero.
As for the kills though I'm about done with cuts to blacks and lazy deaths. I know it's a PG-13 but this movie makes Jurassic World seem disturbing. Kills aren't important but they're what make me fear the creature. Don't watch this to see people get eaten.
Overall, It's not terrible. I guess you can say there will be another one but only if you want another one. I really wouldn't mind Heder being the Header.
