James Wan Releases Look At The Original Demon For The Conjuring 2 That The Nun Replaced

I think The Nun looks way creepier. I'm glad they made the change.

I personally love The Conjuring 2. I think it has a few scenes that are way more creepy than the original. But the THE NUN's presence in the film gave me mixed feelings.

Don't get me wrong, she, or "it", looked creepy as hell. It's Marilyn Manson like looks made me feel all weird and tingly. But let's be honest, THE NUN was in the film in order to make a spin-off. Much like Annabelle in the original. But it was handled in the film well enough, and made for some of the most eerie moments.

But James Wan, the director, has revealed that The Nun wasn't even originally suppose to be in the film. She was added entirely in reshoots!

"Conjuring 2 is one of my personal fav."

James Wan posted on his social medias, followed by:

""Here's my first design of the demonic entity haunting the family and Lorraine. Aaron Sims (concept designer) and myself took inspiration from our Dracula design for a movie I was attached to a long time ago called Castlevania."

He then shared the photo you see above, and several others! Including these ones.

In the same post, James Wan went on to explain why this demon was replaced, and the original inspiration for The Nun character.

"Alas, during editing, I deemed this beautifully designed/sculpted horned demon too out of left-field for the film. It needed to be more grounded and personal — something that would take Lorraine’s faith and try to test/corrupt it. I remember the real-life Lorraine Warren talking about her love and reverence for her nun friends, and a lightbulb went off — thus… the Demon Nun was born."

What do you think? Do you agree with Wan's decision to change the original demon to The Nun? Or do you think the original design would have been better??
