It's not quite horror, but the intense atmosphere and dreary vibe was one we thoroughly enjoyed.
Released back in 2019, Season 1 of Altered Carbon was pretty much Blade Runner in TV form. The visuals were mind-blowing and the concept was terrifying. The dreary, hypnotic atmosphere was magnificent and Season 2 only continued the tradition.
Sadly, Deadline reported today that Netflix has decided to cancel the series. Nellie Andreeva stated, “I hear Netflix’s decision not to proceed with further seasons was made in April and is not COVID-related but stems from the streamer’s standard viewership vs. cost renewal review process.”
The show was based on the cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan and starred Joel Kinnaman (Season 1) and Anthony Mackie (Season 2). Taking place 300 years in the future, the show explore a moral look at the dangers of technology to society.
Despite it only having 2 seasons and an animated movie, Altered Carbon: Resleeved, we highly recommend checking it out.
