Nicolas Cage Is Back In The Action Horror Movie Prisoners Of The Ghostland
Did you hear me? Cage is back!
Currently being described as Nicolas Cage's 'wildest' movie, Prisoners of the Ghostland is going to be some badass sci-fi horror action. Hit or Miss, Jiu-Jitsu isn't the last sword-wielding Cage your getting this year. Sion Sono has a movie coming at you that will have Cage wielding swords once again, but with a lot more horror elements integrated into the film than in Jiu-Jitsu.
Cage is like the Cherry on top for me.
The cast includes Sofia Boutella, Bill Moseley, and Ed Skrein. Aaron Hendry and Reza Safai wrote the screenplay and Sion Sono directs it. The film was acquired by RLJ Entertainment, the American film production company now honing Sono's first English-language film.
RLJ Entertainment has handled Cage before with the psychedelic Color Out of Space film, exclusive to Shudder.
Set in the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town where a ruthless bank robber (Cage) is sprung from jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within three days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman—and his own path to redemption.
If you ask me, Willys Wonderland will be enough to satiate my Cage needs for now. You can bet your ass though that once this drops, I'm on top of it like Tarantino on intellectual dialogue.
