Rob Zombie Posts A Heartfelt Tribute For Recently Deceased Sig Haig
Sig Haig passed just a week after the release of "3 From Hell"
Its been an incredibly sad year for horror since we lost Rob Zombie mainstay, Sid Haig, a unique character with one of the best on screen presences. We know him best as Captain Spaulding in Zombie's most prolific works such as House of A 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects.
All though the subject matter of the films him and Zombie worked on together is too much to stomach for some, they are important pinpoints in the dated horror timeline. Their friendship started in 1999, climaxing at 05's House of a 1000 Corpses.
Even though Haig had many projects to pursue in the years of his passing his health deterred him. His role in 3 From Hell was cut short, but it is the most recent of his works we can remember him by. And he was definitely great in it!
Robert Zombie posted this on this social media accounts:
“Well, today marks one year since my buddy Sid Haig left us. We did a lot of stuff together over the twenty years we were friends. He was my first and only choice for Captain Spaulding back in 1999. As sad as it was, I am so glad he got to play Spaulding one last time even if it was brief. He gave it all he had. That was March 2018. Obviously we had originally planned to do much more back then but his health made it impossible. I can only hope this role will help him live on for future generations of horror fans.”
We are unsure if we will see the return of the Fireflies again, but I will always have memories of them camping out in motels and scheming together forever. May Sid Haig live on as a legend of horror forever, and may Zombie continue bringing us madness to the big screen. Fuck yeah.
