Hey, can't be mad about them trying to do Spawn justice.
Three years ago Blumhouse announced it would be working alongside Todd McFarlane's Spawn reboot, but it's yet to make any significant progress. All we know as of now is that McFarlane has publicly let us know his demands for it to be rated-R as well as having to use his screenplay. It would appear that Blumhouse has at least talked him into shift the screenplay a little because they are working on the screenplay a lot more.
Jason Blum recently had a interview with Inverse and said this,
“It’s taken longer than I hoped it would have to get the story right, but we’re still working on it,”
“It’s gonna be very different, it’s gonna be very edgy,” Blum added. “What excited me about it is that Spawn is kind of the last great unexploited comic. So that seemed like an amazing opportunity.”
What we do know is that it was previously announced that Jamie Foxx was set to star as the title character and Jeremy Renner as Detective Twitch.
