Top 10 Most Anticipated Horror Video Games To Come In 2021
It's not just horror movies that are exciting this year
1. THE MEDIUM
A psychological horror game that is said to be the Silent Hill of this era will follow a Medium who can travel to the spirit realm. The Medium will be available on the Xbox Series and PC on January 28th, 2021, and is developed by the ultra-talented Bloober Team. I can't wait for this game just because of the Silent Hill aspect. A really interesting part about the game is you will be able to gauge the spirit and the normal realm side by side to solve puzzles and evade enemies.
2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
Coming straight to the Gamepass on release, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 looks to be one of the more challenging survival horror games to come this year. With this installment going with the open-world approach alike the Metro series, I am deeply excited to enjoy complete freedom but with the lore of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Currently, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is my second most anticipated game for 2021. This game will be very demanding with 4k features and Ray Tracing support. We don't know much about the game but what we do know you can find on this site!
This is my first most anticipated game of the year. A lot of top 10 games I know have or have been in development for a very long period of time and Scorn being one of them. This super sketchy and atmospheric first-person horror adventure game inspired by the visions of H.R Geiger is an experience I've been longing for. Ebb Software has been taking its time polishing this title and it's looking like we'll get it this year.
4. EVIL DEAD THE GAME
Horror fans were shaken at last year's Game Awards when this title was revealed. For current and next-gen consoles, players will get to go up in arms against all the famous monsters we say in the Evil Dead movies as Ash Williams. Hopefully, we'll get some cooperative gameplay in this one alike the Friday the 13th game. Another thing that would be super cool is if Ash is voiced by Bruce Campbell! I'm unaware of an exact release date but the beloved supernatural horror game based on the franchise was promised for release this year!
5. FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S SECURITE
The FNAF franchise spanning across a handful of sequels that can be grabbed right now on the Gamepass is bigger than ever with a movie currently in development. Coming to PS4, PS5, and PC, the newest title is fantastic looking. For a while FNAF unofficially was the king of jump scares, it's looking like you'll definitely be caught flinching by Freddy and a couple of new animatronic horrors.
6. BACK 4 BLOOD
I was a huge fan of Left 4 Dead and many other Valve titles including Half-Life and Portal. They're simply one of the most efficient game development companies and a portion of them became Turtle Rock Studios. Back 4 Blood is a spiritual successor of Left 4 Dead. We can honestly call it Left 4 Dead 3. The team-based first-person action zombie shooter will be released on June 22nd, 2021. The gameplay loop is simple yet addicting, get to point B from point A battling massive zombie hordes. Expect this title to be one you pick up and don't put down for a long time and for that it is my third most anticipated game coming this 2021.
7. LITTLE NIGHTMARES 2
Little Nightmares was an amazing horror title where you play as a small defenseless protagonist on a giant ship evading dozens of nightmarish creatures. The second installment looks to share the same charm it was rich with in its predecessor but instead, you play as Mono, a young boy with a bag over his head with the help of Six, the girl in the yellow coat. In Little Nightmares 2, you will traverse dark environments, with new threats, and more puzzles. You will have far more places to discover than a ship and instead explore a school, the woodlands, and a signal tower. Get ready on November 2nd, 2021, to plunge into darkness.
8. OUTLAST TRIALS
The first two games of the Outlast series have been deemed the scariest horror games in recent times. Outlast Trials is looking to carry out said legacy by implementing cooperative play, but not letting the multiplayer element pull away from the scares. Outlast Trials is set in the Cold War where you and your friends (or you alone) will be part of being a human test experiment. This crazy survival game will bring you and some friends to madness as you use every bit of your will to escape. The release date has yet to be announced but Red Barrels assured that 2021 would be the year.
9. RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE
Resident Evil is back this year! Capcom is going all out with one of the most famous videogame horror series. Don't believe me? Witches, Vampires, and Werewolves. The game will take to a creepy Village home to a litany of terrifying ghouls and monsters. We don't know much about this game besides a returning character from the previous game. Set to release on next-generation consoles and PC, Resident Evil 8 looks like it will be a similar experience to the last.
10. DYING LIGHT 2
Dying Light was a very innovative approach to the zombie genre in games. The ability to execute parkour moves while taking zombies out is what made this game so addicting. Dying Light 2 will continue its parkour gameplay but with a world that's ever-changing depending on how you play. Techland has had a rocky development but soon they will be ready to release the game this year on top of exciting news that they've promised very soon.
