Zac Efron Signed On to Star in Adaptation of Stephen King's 'Firestarter!'

Honestly, we are kind of on board with this!

With Zac Efron making his big acting transition into evil/villainous territory with the movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Vile, he looks to continue the horror theme (Maybe not quite as evil this time around) thanks to director Keith Thomas (The Vigil).

Set to be directed by Thomas, Efron has been signed on to star in an adaptation of Stephen King's book Firestarter. Produced by Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Weed Road Productions, the film is sure to be a blast. Not only is Thomas directing by it's written by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Rectify).

In Firestarter, “A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”

Jason Blum and Academy Award® winner Akiva Goldsman will produce. Martha De Laurentiis (associate producer on the 1984 adaptation of Firestarter starring a young Drew Barrymore, will executive produce). Firestarter reunites Goldsman and Blum who worked together on the Paranormal Activity franchise.
